In the early 1900s Coos Bay and North Bend were served by two churches, each having their own pastor. The church in North Bend was called “Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church.” During the depression years the two churches called one pastor to serve them both. Pastors serving the early church were Jensen, Mathiason, Longbecker, and Gross. Differences in 1951 caused many families to leave the North Bend church to join the church in Coos Bay.
